Department of Skateboarding, Portland, Oregonre

Need to skate, but the weather is crap during your Portland, Oregon visit? Go to The Department of Skateboarding for a fun filled session! Although this is one of the slickest indoor parks I have been to (seems like all the masonite has wax on it), it is still a great indoor park. The street course has all the stuff you would expect and there is a small bowl off to the side. The main feature is the 6'-8' kidney pool w/ steel coping and tile. Now, let me explain about the "tile" they installed... it is NOT ceramic, but 4" vinyl squares! Damn, they are clever!!! They attached the tile with adhesive and put one drywall screw though the middle of each tile. When you hit it with you wheels, you still get the sound and feel!
The small bowl has a wall ride built into one end.
Department of Skateboarding is a pay to skate a session park. A full service pro shop is on site too. For more info check out their website.
